VCE Unit 1 & 2 Health and Human Development Excursion

On the 28th of July Unit 1&2 Health and Human Development students attended an excursion to the Mercy Maternity Hospital in Heidelberg as a part of the topic Prenatal Development. Students learnt about topics such as the female reproductive system, implantation, the foetal development stages, changes in pregnancy and infant screening. They learnt the stages of pregnancy and the changes the development of the baby at certain stages. They also learnt about the function of the placenta and had the opportunity to view a real one if they wished. The session ended with an opportunity to meet a new born baby who was born 3 days before. Students enjoyed the excursion and were able to use this knowledge in the classroom and assessments.
